Policy Issue: Learning Spaces

Restore a broken educational system.

The current state of Sacramento has turned our once envied school system into modern-day open prison child farms. More and more our eyes have been opening to how the State-run Educational System has become more of a punishment and hindrance. This institution should be a place to grow and expand one's mind, not close it. Too many California schools have successfully done more to destroy a youth's natural aptitude. This is also starting to show when these youths begin to enter the workforce.

Let us look at the other side of this. We have too many teachers who have probably begun to hate their work. Who would want to be locked in a child farm where your clients are a bunch of unwilling, and sometimes hostile children. This places an undue strain on the part of the infrastructure where teachers are the main pillars of this institution. What good is having a child who is willing to learn when you have a teacher who has lost faith in the system and refuses to use the keys to open the door to an unlimited amount of opportunities.

When this happens, we all lose. We become modern-day California. We can only imagine what tomorrow will look like if we do not do anything to stop this. I would not be surprised if this is one of the main reasons why many of the youth believe Socialism is the right way to go.

Youth who do not receive a formal education will seek out informal learning from where ever they can get it. And if you look at a lot of social media, you will see it can be just as bad, if not worse than the schools they attend. There are certain things the youth must be taught to play their part as members of a great society. They have to realize to create a great society, they have to want to be a part of it.

The executives running our educational institution have shown they are not even willing to do that. Our youths are not properly being taught the technical aspects as well as the intellectual concepts needed to have the ability to think clearly and rationally about what to do or what to believe. To put it as simply as possible, this is what our youth need. No more, no less. The tools needed to become successful adults, and the guidance and support which goes along with it. I do not doubt they will amaze us with the roads they build.

Let's move District 28 and California forward together. A better tomorrow begins with Carlos as your representative in Sacramento. Carlos is with you, and he will FIGHT for you, and he will WIN for YOU.
